Kevin Smith to Reboot Clever Banter Movie

By Logan McRay

The guy that did that one movie in the 90’s that people pretended to like will do another movie about the same characters because reasons. Director Kevin Smith has begun pre-production of a reboot of his “Jay and Silent Bob” characters from the 1994 movie “Clerks” and a few other View Askew productions you couldn’t name if your life depended on it. From Variety:

“Kevin Smith has launched pre-production on his long-promised “Jay and Silent Bob” reboot with Jay Mewes and producer Jordan Monsanto. Smith, who first announced the project in August, 2017, made the announcement in Jan. 1 tweet: “Spent the first day of 2019 having a #JayAndSilentBobReboot pre-pre-production meeting.”

“Smith and Mewes made their film debut in the 1994 comedy “Clerks,” funded for $27,000 through Smith maxing out his credit cards. Smith wrote, directed, co-produced, and acted in “Clerks,” portraying the character Silent Bob as part of the team of Jay and Silent Bob.”

Independent media and film production is essential for different points of view to be represented in the mainstream. It’s unfortunate that Smith’s point of view is like weed, man. To his credit, Smith has lost 50 lbs since last February after he suffered a heart attack. Maybe this version of Silent Bob will include him selling black market Lipitor and Fen-Phen in front of a convenience store.
